BS8418 (Installation and Remote Monitoring of Detector Activated CCTV Systems) is a fully ratified British Standard. It defines not just the specification of the equipment, but also the best practices regarding the design, installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance and remote monitoring of detector activated systems.
Remotely monitored installations
must comply with BS8418 to be allocated a Unique Reference Number (URN) by the Police, enabling level 1 (urgent) response.
